How to sell on Whop: from account to first payout

To sell on Whop: create a free account at whop.com/start, complete verification, add a product with a price and billing cycle, attach what the buyer receives (Discord role, course, file, chat), set up a payout method, then share the checkout link with your audience. Whop charges 2.7% + $0.30 per sale and pays out to 200+ countries with a $10 minimum.

The eight steps

  1. Create a free Whop account. Sign up at whop.com/start, choose "I want a business" and name your whop. No card is required.
  2. Complete verification early. Add your ID, bank account and business details in Settings before you launch, so payouts are not held later.
  3. Build the product. Add a product with a clear name, what exactly the buyer gets, and a price. Use one-off for downloads and courses, monthly for communities and alerts.
  4. Attach the delivery. Connect Discord or Telegram for gated access, upload a course or files, or enable Whop chat. Test it with a $0 or trial product.
  5. Write the store page. Cover image, plain description, refund policy, FAQ. Vague deliverables are the main cause of disputes.
  6. Set up payouts. Choose bank, PayPal or Coinbase Commerce, and a manual or scheduled withdrawal with a minimum balance kept for refunds.
  7. Launch to your own audience first. Share the checkout link where your buyers already are. Turn on the marketplace listing as well, but do not rely on it for traffic.
  8. Add affiliates. Set a commission (Whop defaults to 30%) so others can sell for you; Whop pays them and charges you 1.25% processing.

Pricing decisions that matter

  • The $0.30 changes the maths on cheap products. A $5 download pays 8.7% in fees; a $27 one pays 3.81%. Bundle low-ticket items.
  • Monthly beats one-off for communities. Across the 300+ Whop communities our review sites track, the norm is $20–$100 a month with a cheaper annual option.
  • State the refund policy. Many trading and picks sellers run no-refund policies, which is allowed but must be visible. Disputes cost $15 each regardless of outcome.

Mistakes we see on the marketplace

  • Launching before verification, then hitting a payout hold with money in the balance.
  • Promising results ("guaranteed profits") — invites disputes and, in trading and betting niches, account review.
  • No product outside Discord. If the server is the only deliverable, churn is high; add a course, archive or alerts history.
  • Ignoring the review section. Verified-purchase reviews are the first thing buyers read.
