What "$300M paid to sellers last month" tells a new seller

Whop's network page states that sellers earned $300M+ in the last month across 27,000+ businesses. Two things follow.

1. The average is misleading

$300M across 27,000 businesses is about $11,000 each per month — but the distribution is extremely skewed. Whop's named customers include Polymarket, Kalshi and Netflix-scale brands; the median seller on the marketplace, from the listings we track, is a solo operator making hundreds to a few thousand dollars a month.

2. Whop's incentives are aligned with volume, not sign-ups

With no monthly fee, Whop earns only when you sell. That is why verification is strict, why holds happen in risky categories, and why the platform pushes sellers toward subscriptions. It is also why the platform is cheap for small sellers: you are not subsidising anything until you transact.
